In 13 episodes that you can watch online, eight high school contestants tackle engineering challenges for actual clients—from designing a peanut butter grinder for a women’s collective in Haiti to making a wedding dress that converts into a tent. (Don't be put off because its on the PBSkids website - as these are real problems that are being solved by high schoolers).

Biology Research High School internships
Two locations offer biology research internships. Balgia labs offers 8 week biology research internships to high school students. There are also opportunities to work with Project Feed 1010 Ambassador program which involves biology and sustainable agriculture research. The application for these programs are usually posted in January and usually have a March deadline. Application for summer program.

8 week paid internships for students finishing junior year before senior year. Information.
Port of Seattle - Internships
The Port of Seattle offer a variety of internships. According to their website they post high school internships between February to April/May. So check their website frequently to see what's on offer.
The Center of Infectious Diseases
Bioquest has special programs for high school juniors. Bioquest Academy Application for summer program at the Center for Infectious Diseases. The program is 2 weeks immersion into the work at the center and then support on projects during the year. Check their website for application dates, but they are usually have a deadline in April.
Microsoft High School Programs Deadline March 3rd 2018
Microsoft offer two programs to high school students.
- 3-day Microsoft High School Bootcamp for Puget Sound students
- 10 week paid internship program.
The application site is already open for applications.
Google Dates not posted but expect it to be close March 2018
Google offers a Computer Science Summer Institute program for graduating seniors prior to their first year at college. The program is 3 weeks long. It provides an overview of how Google creates products, the responsibilities of the different job roles, and gives students a chance to experience what working in tech might be like. They encourage applications from women.

The GenOM Project has provided a list of internships in the area that focus on research in science, engineering, life sciences, and medicine.
Young Scholars Program in Neuroscience and Neural Engineering Deadline February 15th (letters of recommendations are due on this day too!)
Center for Sensorymotor Neural Engineering offers a 10 week research experience on the University of Washington campus. Learn more from the students by watching this video Link.

DigiGirlz Days are offered around the US. It is an opportunity to hear more about the creation and marketing of hi-tech products and services. There are many careers in tech (not just programming) and these fun day events expose attendees to many different careers you may not know about.
